Screenwriting & Editing Software Standards

1. We currently have Final Draft installed in our edit labs, but students often struggle to access this software outside class hours and ask for free or accessible alternatives. What industry-standard screenwriting software (ideally free or low-cost) would you recommend for students working on their own devices?

2. Our students currently edit using Adobe Premiere Pro, but many ask whether learning Avid is essential for their career prospects. In your sector/industry, what do you currently consider the primary “industry standard” for video editing, and how crucial is Avid proficiency for entry-level roles?

LFA’s Research Showcase

3. At this year’s LFA Showcase (23rd October at the BFI), we are launching our first Research Showcase to highlight exceptional student research, ethics, and process through A2 posters, AV displays, LFA blog features, and portfolio highlights. Do you have recommendations for additional ways we can support these students and increase their industry visibility? (e.g. specific publications, industry blogs, websites, LinkedIn, or academic/industry awards)

4. We would love to feature panel presence as a key benefit for students by inviting panel members to review student work and chat with them during the Showcase drinks reception at the BFI. Would you (or a representative from your organisation) be interested in attending the Showcase on 23rd October to view student work and speak with nominated students?
